A southern neighborhood located in the city of Modesto, California. Shackelford was officially annexed on June 1, 2012, with a population of 3,371 on a 2010 census which was down from 5,170 in 2000 conduct of the census. Shackelford is part of the Modesto Metropolitan Statistical Area and before its annexation, the neighborhood was a census-designated place.
In 1916 the Lion Bridge was built over the Toulumne River for effective access between the cities of Ceres and Modesto. It was constructed at $111,000 cost. The city of Modesto finally annexed Shackelford in 2012 because of the events that culminated in a multi-year effort. The area is bordered by California State Route 99 on the northern part, Main Street on the east, Crows Landin Road on the west, and Hatch Road on the southern part.
Crows Landing Rd Shopping Districts is a long strip of shopping areas and different kinds of a shop along the Crown Landing Road. IT is located in the CPD’s center. It is a highly Mexican influence area. Three of the Mexican Supermarkets located within the shopping district are:

Demographics
In 2010 the Unite States Census stated that the Shackelford has an approximately 3,371 population. The population density was 4,945.7 people per square mile and its racial makeup is 46.3% White, 0.8% African American, 1.9% Native American, 1.8% Asian, 0.0% Pacific Islander, 44.4% from other races, and 4.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latinos of any race were approximately 79.6% or 2,685 persons.
There was 989 household that had children that are under the age of 18 living them, 41.9% were opposite-sex married couples that are living together, 23.9% had a female householder with no husband, 12.5% with a male householder with no wife present. There were 1,059 housing units at an average density of 1,553.7 per square mile (599.9/km2), of which 336 (37.4%) were owner-occupied, and 562 (62.6%) were occupied by renters. The homeowner vacancy rate was 2.0%; the rental vacancy rate was 13.4%. 1,299 people (38.5% of the population) lived in owner-occupied housing units and 2,072 people (61.5%) lived in rental housing units.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $23,289, and the median income for a family was $24,541. Males had a median income of $23,365 versus $15,903 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $7,250. About 33.6% of families and 36.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 39.1% of those under age 18 and 13.9% of those ages 65 or over.
